The parameter required to make a request to the endpoints of the Automotive API is the license plate (for most endpoints) or the KBAN number (for the German endpoint).

At the moment, information is available for:

  • Italy (Car, Motorcycle, Insurance)
  • France (Cars, Motorcycles)
  • United Kingdom (Cars, Motorcycles, MOT)
  • Portugal (Cars and Insurance)
  • Spain (Cars, Motorcycles)
  • Germany (Cars)

The Automotive API is constantly being updated, so it will soon be possible to obtain information for new countries as well.

The CAR endpoints return detailed information about cars registered in Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, and Spain. For example:

  • description
  • registration date
  • model
  • brand
  • version
  • engine displacement
  • horsepower
  • number of doors

Each country has a dedicated endpoint:

  • Italy: /IT-car/{LicensePlate}
  • France: /FR-car/{LicensePlate}
  • UK: /UK-car/{LicensePlate}
  • Portugal: /PT-car/{LicensePlate}
  • Spain: /ES-car/{LicensePlate}
  • Germany: /DE-car/{KBANumber}

Note: the information returned may vary depending on the country and the availability of data from local official sources. As a result, the response structure and level of detail may differ between endpoints.

The BIKE endpoint returns detailed information on a motorcycle registered in Italy, France, Spain or UK. For example:

  • description
  • date of registration
  • model
  • brand
  • version
  • displacement
  • horsepower

Each country has a different endpoint:

  • Italy: /IT-bike/{LicensePlate}
  • France: /FR-bike/{LicensePlate}
  • UK: /UK-bike/{LicensePlate}
  • SPAIN: /ES-bike/{LicensePlate}

Note: the information returned may vary depending on the country and the availability of data from local official sources. As a result, the response structure and level of detail may differ between endpoints.

Currently, the Insurance service is available only for Italy and Portugal and returns specific information about a vehicle's insurance coverage, such as:

  • insurance company name
  • actual policy expiration date (i.e. the expiration date including the 15-day grace period provided by law)
  • whether the vehicle is currently covered by insurance or not

Note: the information returned may vary depending on the country and the availability of data from local official sources. As a result, the response structure and level of detail may differ between endpoints.

The Expiry figure indicates the actual end date of coverage of the policy and is calculated by adding the 15-day regulatory grace period to the expiry date.

The /UK-mot/{LicensePlate} endpoint returns detailed information on the MOT test of a car registered in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) and facilitates the verification of MOT (Department for Transport) service history.

The data provided are:

  • date of test
  • test result (passed or failed)
  • odometer reading
  • test number

In case of failure, a list of problems will be available in plain text. This service allows you to access the homologation history of a vehicle efficiently and effectively.

The service returns the response in synchronous mode.

In the Usage section, at the API level, it is possible to monitor free and subscription requests (for Italian cars/motorcycles) or recharges (for all countries). They are available both in graphical mode (period month and year) and with a textual summary.

The cost of requests varies depending on the country being queried and the purchasing method selected (subscription or prepaid credit).
